Can i upgrade to a multicore CPU ?

Hi, my current laptop has a 2 core CPU, i was wondering if i can upgrade to a CPU that has more cores, 6 or 8.

And this is a comparison between the recommended CPUs to upgrade to.

What annoys me here is that all of them are 2 core CPUs, i want to know if CPUs with more cores are compatible with the rest of the system ?
